Introduction

Bienvenidos, and welcome to the wonderful world of woodland prairie mosaics. where the grass is tall, the oak trees green, and soldiers "flock like the salmon of Capistrano."  It is within the boundaries of Fort Lewis that a study of Quercus garryana has been implemented this past summer (June through August 2000).  The question addressed by this research team concerns differences in water use, gas exchange and physiology of oak trees of similar age and size along a water gradient.  This research was made possible by a grants from the Murdock Fund, and also from generous viewers like you.  (If you desire to contribute to further the research through a monetary endowment either to the specific research project, the student researchers, or to Pacific Lutheran University, please contact Professor David Hansen.(  hansendh@plu.edu  )     BACK
